Which Blueberry should you grow?

The right Blueberry comes down to space and patience.

Photoperiod or autoflower? Photoperiods give the full plant, the bigger yields and higher listed THC, 19–26%, run on a timer across 50–63 days of bloom. Autoflowers finish on their own clock from seed, 55–81 days, at a gentler 14–23%.

Feminized or regular? Feminized seeds give you only females, so there are no males to spot and pull mid-grow. The one regular Blueberry here is for breeding or taking cuttings from an old line. Either way the choice is how the plant is grown, not what it finishes as.

Blueberry photoperiod (feminized and regular)

The photoperiod versions are the classic Blueberry: grown on a light schedule, 18 hours a day in veg and 12 to flower, paying the control back in sweet, berry-scented flower. Flowering runs 50–63 days, with listed THC 19–26%. Heights are listed at 90–200 cm.

Blueberry autoflower

The Blueberry autos are the shortcut: an old indica delivered in weeks rather than the usual wait, finishing on their own schedule with no light flip to judge. There are 6 autos here, and they keep the sweet berry character. Seed-to-harvest times run 55–81 days, so read that figure before you buy. Heights are listed at 90–110 cm. Listed THC on the autos runs 14–23%, a step below the photoperiods, so they trade a little strength for simplicity. How Blueberry grows

Blueberry is an indica through and through, and that mostly works in your favour: she stays compact and easy to house, which is half the battle in a small tent. Heights across the versions run 90–200 cm, and the tall end is a photoperiod (Phoenix list theirs at 200 cm), while the autos stay tidy: three of them are listed at 90 cm. Dutch Passion note theirs grows quickly through every stage and finishes flower in about nine weeks, bred for flavour ahead of tonnage, with a listed 300 g/m².

She is a forgiving plant to learn on. Herbies say their Blueberry Fast Version is easy on a novice, and their auto toughened with Ruderalis: the Ruderalis roots giving it real resilience, the sort that simply wants leaving to get on with it. That resilience is the theme across the autos: Zambeza describe theirs as hardy and undemanding. Patience is the only real cost on one of them: Herbies' auto is listed at 81 days from seed, so close to twelve weeks before harvest.

The payoff shows at harvest. Fast Buds say their auto shifts through green, purple and the occasional red. Fast Buds say theirs grows bushy and resin-heavy. The Blueberry nose carries through every build. Zambeza's auto is the quickest auto, at 55 days from seed. Give her the basics and Blueberry is an obliging plant.

Where Blueberry comes from

Blueberry is an old name with a real pedigree, and the breeders word its make-up a few ways. Dutch Passion list a Juicy Fruit and Afghani cross. Zambeza trace the line back further, to the old-school growers of the California and Oregon hills who first worked Thai and Afghan stock into these fruited hybrids. Breeders who list a split quote her heavily indica, most often 80/20. Herbies list a Thai and Purple Thai over Afghani instead, and Zambeza's photoperiod is Blueberry x Northern Lights.
