Our story

I just want you to grow good bud.

Grow Good Bud started the way most good things do — out of frustration. Forum threads contradicting each other, YouTube "experts" selling the upgrade of the week, feed charts written by the people selling the feed. Everyone had an opinion. Almost no one had the evidence.

So I went to the research instead. Every lesson here is built from peer-reviewed studies — on light, nutrition, environment, water and the plant's own biology — and translated into plain English you can act on tonight. I open each one with the mistake most growers make, because that's the fastest way to learn: see the trap, understand why it happens, then do it right.

What makes this different

  • Mistake-first. I start with what goes wrong and work back to the science.
  • Cited, always. If I claim it, there's a paper at the foot of the page.
  • Independent. No sponsorships, no brand deals, nobody funding it — I pay for all of this myself. The day job is at Dublin Indoor Gardening, and I point you their way because I rate them, not because they pay for this.
  • Irish. Made in Dublin, for growers everywhere.

Who runs Grow Good Bud?

One fella. Dave. Around Dublin I'm DIG Dave — the way every second Dave in Ireland ends up wearing the name of the place he works. There's a customer who's called me Liam for ten years. Everyone in the shop knows who he means. Nobody corrects him, me included. That's the calibre of mystery you're dealing with here.

Before plants I taught school — Ballyfermot first, then Tower Hamlets. These days the day job is the counter at Dublin Indoor Gardening, and the tent at home does the rest. This site is the two trades meeting in the middle: a teacher's way of breaking things down, pointed at the questions I get asked across the counter every week, and tested on my own grows before any of it gets written up.

It's free because I'd rather it was read than sold. Too much of this knowledge spent years sitting behind paid courses and private forums, and I happened to have the two jobs that could do something about it. If it saves your grow and you're feeling flush, there's a tip jar. If not, grow good bud — we're square.

Where this goes next

The free Level-1 path gets your first harvest right. The deeper science lives in the levels above — and the whole thing, in print, becomes the book Grow Good Bud. The kit to do any of it is at Dublin Indoor Gardening, the shop I manage.
