Seb Silverback

Also known as Indica Crystal Extreme, which tells you most of what you need to know — Dutch Skunk, Northern Lights and Afghani combine into a hardy, compact plant buried under sticky silver resin. The high is heavy, narcotic and full-body, useful for chilling and pain relief alike. The sitting-down sort, at 15-18% THC.

Where it comes from

White Ice earned her name from the heavy coat of sticky silver resin over her buds; you may also meet her as White I.C.E., or Indica Crystal Extreme, which tells you most of what you need before the first bowl. She is a three-way hybrid of Dutch Skunk, Northern Lights and an Afghani cultivar — a resin-heavy Indica trio if ever there was one. The result is hardy, compact and thoroughly frosted, exactly as the acronym threatens.

Nose & flavour

The record settles on one clear word — pungent — and I will not embroider past it. Between Dutch Skunk, Northern Lights and Afghani, the make-up leans to the funked and the earthy, and the plant's heavy resin does the aromatics no harm. Truly pungent, on the record's own account, and best kept where the smell is welcome.

The high

Heavy, hard-hitting and full-bodied, with a distinctly narcotic edge — the sitting-down sort, useful chiefly for the business of doing nothing at all. It offers maximum relaxation and little argument. Once she has you settled, you will not be needed elsewhere for the evening; plan the rest of the night accordingly.

Growing it

The hardy, compact nature makes her a genuinely good choice for the home grower — she asks little and stands up well. The record gives flowering at 45 to 55 days, a tidy 90 to 100cm, and a solid 350–450 g/m². THC sits at 15 to 18%. Between the compact frame, the resistance and the resin, she is an obliging plant to keep, and generous with trichomes come harvest. Clean your scissors afterwards, as they will need it.
