How to grow Super Silver Haze
Taste
Seb's take
Bred in the early nineties by Green House Seeds, this cross of Northern Lights, Haze, and Skunk #1 took three Cannabis Cups running before anyone else caught up. Earthy, citrus, sweet, and pungent on the nose, the effect combines genuine psychoactive lift with physical ease — distinguished parents, distinguished manners.
Where it comes from
Bred in the early nineties by the famous Green House Seeds, Super Silver Haze crosses Northern Lights, Haze and Skunk #1, and it went on to take three Cannabis Cups running, in 1997, 1998 and 1999, before anyone else caught up. It is a top-quality sativa-dominant hybrid at 75 per cent, and it comes from distinguished parents in every sense. Distinguished parents, distinguished manners, and a competition record that speaks for itself without any help from the label.
Nose & flavour
A layered, forward aroma. Earthy and pungent notes ground it, citrus and sweetness brighten the top, and a spiced-herbal thread runs through the middle to tie the two together. It is the kind of complex nose the Cup judges rewarded, neither a simple sweet nor a plain funk but a proper composition. Loud enough to make itself known, and interesting enough to hold the attention while it does.
The high
A powerful combination of psychoactive lift and physical ease, which is precisely what wooed the judges. It runs happy, uplifted and euphoric, the head genuinely engaged and creative, while a physical presence underneath keeps the whole thing grounded. Energetic company that lifts and engages rather than sedates, the two sides of the effect working together rather than pulling apart. A well-composed high, as befits the pedigree.
Growing it
A medium plant reaching roughly 90 to 110cm, finishing in 63 to 70 days. The yield is heavy at 549 to 641 g/m², and THC runs 17 to 19 per cent with a whisper of CBD at 0.1. A productive, well-mannered sativa-dominant hybrid that keeps its stature reasonable while returning real weight, and carries a terpene profile worth the trouble of a clean finish. Three Cups did not come from nowhere, and the plant still earns its keep in the grow room.
