How to grow Super Silver Haze Autoflower
Taste
Seb's take
Three High Times Cup wins in a row secured this one's reputation before the autoflowering version made it considerably less demanding to grow. Earthy, citrus, and sweet with a spiced-herbal, pungent finish, the high stays energetic and creative — happy and euphoric without tipping toward heavy.
Where it comes from
One of the finest smokes the Netherlands has to offer, Super Silver Haze was so popular in the late nineties that it took first place at three High Times Cups in a row. Here the breeders crossed it with ruderalis to make an autoflowering version of a genuine cannabis icon, one that has become considerably easier to grow than the original. The reputation is inherited whole; the autoflowering trait simply removes the demands that made the classic a plant for the patient and the practised.
Nose & flavour
The same layered aroma the classic made its name on: earthy and pungent at the base, citrus and sweetness up top, and a spiced-herbal thread running between them. It is a forward, composed nose rather than a simple one, carrying the complexity that won the original its reputation. Loud, interesting company for the senses, and faithful to the line it came from.
The high
The high stays energetic and creative, happy and euphoric without ever tipping toward heavy. It keeps the bright, engaged character of the classic, an uplifting effect that sets the mind going rather than settling the body down. Sociable, lively company well suited to the daytime, the ruderalis having taken nothing from the sativa lift in the crossing. A cheerful, up sort of high throughout.
Growing it
A medium autoflower reaching roughly 90 to 110cm, finishing in 67 to 73 days from the off. The yield is a modest 305 to 336 g/m², so this is a plant grown for the icon's character rather than sheer tonnage, and THC runs 16 to 19 per cent with a whisper of CBD at 0.1. Considerably easier than the original by the breeder's own account, it offers the classic's flavour and lift without the patience the photoperiod once demanded.
