How to grow Somango XL
Taste
Seb's take
Somango crossed with Critical 47 for bigger buds on the same mango-tropical frame. The high runs relaxed, euphoric and creative; the plant itself grows one to two metres with sativa-style branching that will need ventilation and a firm hand with defoliation. A heavy yielder over nine weeks.
Where it comes from
Somango crossed with Critical 47, Royal Queen Seeds taking the mango frame and building it out - the XL is precisely what it says, more of the same rather than something new. Critical 47 brings the bulk; Somango keeps the fruit and the shape. Seventy-five per cent indica, with medium CBD alongside the THC, and the tropical character of the parent carried forward largely intact.
Nose & flavour
Mango and tropical fruit, as the parent promised, sweet and unabashedly fruity. The record does not stray far from that - this is a nose bred to please rather than to puzzle, and it obliges. Resin begins filling the calyxes from around the third week of flower, so the aroma builds steadily as she matures. Straightforward, and moreish with it.
The high
Relaxed, euphoric and creative, at around eighteen per cent THC - a balanced sort of high that lifts the mood without pinning you down, the creative streak the most reliable of the three. An agreeable middle register rather than an extreme at either end. Comfortable company for the afternoon, and easy to enjoy without committing the whole day to it.
Growing it
She grows tall for the family - one to two metres - with short internodal spacing but the branching and leaf of a sativa, so she becomes a heavy, bushy affair that wants proper ventilation and a firm hand with defoliation to keep the humidity honest. Flowering takes up to nine weeks, some phenotypes done by week eight. Yields are generous: around 550 g/m² indoors, and 550 to 600 grams per plant outdoors. Give her air and attention through the stretch and she pays it back.
