Born from further stabilising work by Dutch breeders in the late seventies, White Label's Skunk #1 is as close to the legend's origin as any. Fast and sturdy, thriving best under long, sunny greenhouse days — though a carbon filter here is not optional but required. The high runs happy, euphoric, creative and focused, foundational stuff.
Where it comes from
White Label's Skunk #1 sits about as close to the source as the catalogue allows: Afghani crossed with Mexican Acapulco Gold and Columbian Gold, the same three-continent arrangement that Dutch breeders stabilised in the late 1970s and turned into a legend. Few strains have marked the growing world as deeply as this one — a great many modern varieties carry its blood. The record is plain about the pedigree, and the pedigree is the point: this is the reference against which other skunks are still measured, offered here in a feminised, faithful form.
Nose & flavour
Unmistakably skunk — pungent, earthy, with tobacco, tar and a sharp ammonia note that leaves no doubt about the family. This is not a subtle aroma and makes no apology for being loud; it announces the plant well before you find it. Robust and old-fashioned, the smell that gave the whole category its name and its reputation for indiscretion.
The high
Happy, euphoric and giggly, with a creative, focused streak running through and the customary appetite close behind. Foundational stuff — the sort of well-rounded effect that later strains have spent decades trying to complicate. Sociable and cheerful, it earns its keep as easily now as it did forty years ago.
Growing it
THC runs 15–20%. She flowers in eight to nine weeks and reaches 80–120cm, yielding 300–450 g/m². Fast and sturdy, she will finish in almost any environment but does her best in a greenhouse under long, sunny days. One caution the record makes bluntly: if you would rather the neighbourhood did not know your business, a carbon filter is not optional but required. She begins announcing herself early. Otherwise an undemanding, dependable plant — the classic for good reason.
