How to grow Purple Trainwreck
Taste
Seb's take
Mendo Purps and Trainwreck give this one a proper Christmas-tree shape, heavy with resin-coated buds that turn violet if the nights run cold enough. Lemon, lavender and pine wood carry an intense aroma through to the smoke, and the high lands as a moderate, stimulating cerebral lift rather than anything overwhelming. Give her the headroom indoors - she grows with conviction.
Where it comes from
Mendo Purps and Trainwreck, brought together by the Humboldt Seeds Organization, Northern Californian genetics through and through, Mendo Purps taking its name from Mendocino just as the breeder takes its from neighbouring Humboldt. Mendo Purps lends the colour and the grape; Trainwreck the vigour and the sharp, sativa-leaning edge. A sixty-five percent Indica that keeps a good deal of its Sativa parent's liveliness. Emerald Triangle stock, near enough.
Nose & flavour
An intense nose: lemon and lavender up front, pine wood and an earthy pungency beneath, with a grape sweetness threading through. Loud and layered, this one does not travel discreetly. The Mendo Purps fruit and the Trainwreck sharpness both make themselves known, and neither yields much ground.
The high
The effect is a moderate, stimulating cerebral one, euphoric and uplifted, happy without overwhelming, a lift rather than a landslide. Relaxed underneath, with an appetite arriving in its wake. A measured high, in keeping with the mid-range THC, that leaves you sociable rather than sunk. Good daytime-into-evening company.
Growing it
She grows with real conviction, 100 to 300cm given her head, a proper Christmas-tree shape, so control her indoors and leave room for flowering. Fifty-eight to sixty-three days in flower, returning 400 to 600 g/m² of large, resin-heavy buds that turn violet if the nights run cold enough. Around 15 to 17% THC with a trace of CBD. Give her the headroom and a steady hand; she grows strong, and rewards the space in kind.
