Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Apple Betty crossed with an unnamed Ruderalis line, sweet, spiced and fruity on the nose — dessert in cannabis form, more or less. Indica-leaning at 27-29% THC, the high runs relaxed, happy and euphoric, delivered by resin-heavy buds that will gum up your scissors well before harvest.

Where it comes from

Herbies Seeds took their Apple Betty and crossed her to an unnamed Ruderalis line to arrive at this autoflowering version, sixty percent Indica to twenty Sativa. The Ruderalis brings the automatic habit and a shorter season; everything else, the orchard-and-dessert character, is inherited from the mother. A sensible auto conversion of a well-regarded plant, and none the poorer for the shortcut.

Nose & flavour

Sweet, spiced and fruity on the nose, dessert in cannabis form, more or less. The breeder likens her to a perfect apple pie and the description is not far wrong: warm, sweet and orchard-fresh, with spice threaded through. An inviting profile, and a faithful echo of the photoperiod line that raised her.

The high

Indica-leaning and it shows in the manner: relaxed, happy and euphoric, a comfortable settling rather than a race. At 27 to 29% THC there is real weight behind the good humour, so this is a sipping strain rather than a session one. Pleasant company for an unhurried evening, and honest about where it means to leave you.

Growing it

Seventy to eighty days from seed, an auto on the longer side, standing ninety to a hundred and sixty centimetres. Yields run a solid five hundred and fifty to six hundred grams the square metre from buds that are resin-heavy enough to gum up your scissors well before harvest. She is described as a piece of cake to grow, forgiving of enthusiasm for the novice and the practised hand alike, and content indoors or in the sun. At 27 to 29% THC, a generous return for little trouble.
