How to grow AK Skunk
Taste
Seb's take
AK-47 crossed with the original Skunk #1, resistant enough to humidity and fungal trouble that beginners need not worry unduly. Sweet citrus with a hint of sandalwood on the nose; the effect buzzes and stimulates, suited to creative work or company. A carbon filter is advisable — she does not travel discreetly.
Where it comes from
AK-47 crossed with the original Skunk #1, two of the more consequential names in the modern catalogue, met in the middle at a clean fifty-fifty. Skunk #1 is the plant that taught a generation of hybrids how to be stable and generous, and it brings both traits here; the AK side supplies the potency and the buzz. Kalashnikov have leaned the cross toward resilience, and it shows in a plant that shrugs off the damp and the mould that trouble lesser stock.
Nose & flavour
Sweet and citrus up front, with a thread of sandalwood beneath that lends the nose an unexpected woody warmth, an elegant touch from a Skunk cross, which is not a family known for subtlety. It is a fuller aroma than the parentage might lead you to expect. There is, however, a good deal of it: a carbon filter is sound counsel indoors.
The high
Distinctly sativa in the buzz, stimulating rather than sedating, the sort of lift that suits a workbench or a room full of company. It keeps the head active and the body largely unbothered, which makes it a daytime disposition through and through. At 21% THC it has the strength to back the buzz, so the creative work is best begun before the second one.
Growing it
A forgiving grow, and honest about it: resistant to humidity and fungal trouble to a degree that lets a beginner sleep at night. She holds to 80 to 100cm and flowers across 60 to 65 days, returning 400 to 500g/m² for the patience. The one instruction the record insists on is a carbon filter, the aroma is loud, and it will announce itself to the whole building given the chance. Feminized seed, undemanding temperament: clean your scissors, mind the smell, and she will do the rest.
