Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Columbian, Mexican, Thai and Afghan lines converge in the old AK lineage, sweet and pungent with a pine edge on the nose. The high is the settling kind — happy, relaxed, sleepy — at a dependable 19% THC. Give her the headroom, as she runs to 1.8 metres and flowers thick at every node.

Where it comes from

Royal Queen Seeds trace this back through the old AK lineage, which the record lays out as a convergence of four landrace lines — Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Afghan. That is a well-travelled family tree: three sativa lands and one indica, drawn together into the AK style that has been a fixture since the eighties. The Afghan grounds it, the rest lift it, and the result comes out 60% sativa. A pedigree assembled from four corners of the map, and a properly storied one.

Nose & flavour

Sweet leads the nose, with a pungent depth behind and a clear pine note running through — a bright but grounded profile, in keeping with the landrace heritage. The compact, resinous flowers carry it well. It is a classic, characterful aroma rather than a novelty one: sweet and sharp at once, and pungent enough that it does not travel discreetly.

The high

The effect is the settling kind despite the sativa lean: happy first, then relaxed, easing toward sleepy as it goes. At 19% THC with low CBD it carries dependable weight — an evening's plant more than a morning's, drawing you gently down rather than pushing you out. Comfortable and unhurried, the sort that ends a day rather than starts one.

Growing it

A vigorous plant that runs 80 to 140cm — up to 1.8 metres, the record notes, with branches all reaching for the height of the main stalk — so give her the headroom and watch the canopy. Flowers form at every node, compact, dense and resinous, which means airflow matters: the record warns that bud rot can take hold without proper ventilation. Flowering takes 56 to 63 days, or eight to nine weeks, for a yield of 525–575 g/m² indoors at 19% THC. Keep her moving air and she rewards the vigilance.
