Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Californian Orange crossed with NYC Diesel, an unlikely marriage that settles into sweet apple and earthy diesel on the nose. The high runs energetic and creative, happy and euphoric throughout — a sativa-leaning lift with no sluggish edges. Short in stature and fast to flower, at 20% THC she does not travel discreetly.

Where it comes from

Barney's Farm paired Californian Orange with NYC Diesel here — a sweet, citrus-toned line against one of the sharpest fuel strains going, which sounds a mismatch until you meet the result. The Orange lends fruit and brightness, the Diesel its pungent lift, and the two settle at an even 50/50. An unlikely marriage on paper that turns out an agreeable, sativa-tilted hybrid in the pot, quick to finish and bright to smoke.

Nose & flavour

Sweet apple leads, softer than you would expect from the name, with an earthy diesel note and a woody base filling in behind. The fuel is present but polite, tempered by the fruit into something rounded rather than sharp. A pleasant contradiction of a nose — orchard and forecourt in the same breath — and the sweeter side tends to win.

The high

The effect runs bright and forward: energetic, creative, happy and euphoric with an uplifted lift throughout and no sluggish edges to it. A daytime, hands-busy sort of high in keeping with the sativa half, cheerful rather than heavy. At 20% THC with 0.9% CBD she does not travel discreetly, and does not much try to.

Growing it

Short and fast, which is the appeal. She stays a manageable 90 to 100cm and finishes flowering in 60 to 65 days, so a grower is not kept waiting. The yield is a heavy 600 g/m² at that 20% THC — a fine return from a compact, brisk plant. Nothing about her make-up is fussy; she is built for a quick, productive turnaround in a modest footprint. A sound choice where space is tight and patience thin.
