How to grow Purple Bud
Taste
Seb's take
Hindu Kush, Afghani, Jamaican and Purple Kush all have a hand in this one - a proper committee of lineages. Pine, lavender and pepper on the nose, and patience required: the throbbing, full-body effect takes a good fifteen minutes to arrive, so pace yourself accordingly. Relaxed, sleepy, and happy to take its time.
Where it comes from
A proper committee of lineages: Afghan and Jamaican on one side, Hindu Kush and Purple Kush on the other. White Label trace it back to the wild Indica cultivators of Afghanistan's Hindu Kush, with the Jamaican variety credited for the full-body character and the Afghani stock for potency and speed. Four bloodlines, three of them squarely Indica, the arithmetic of the effect written into the pedigree.
Nose & flavour
Pine and lavender lead, unusually floral for a Kush, with pepper and a spicy-herbal edge behind and a sweetness rounding it off. A more perfumed nose than the heavy Afghani lineage might suggest; the lavender does a good deal of the talking here.
The high
Patience is required: the effect takes a good fifteen minutes to creep up, so pace yourself before reaching for more. When it lands it is a throbbing, full-body settle, relaxed and happy easing toward sleepy, with an appetite arriving alongside. A couple of draws is plenty. The sitting-down sort, once it deigns to arrive.
Growing it
Fifty to sixty-five days in flower, with the Afghani side lending both the speed and the resin. Neither height nor yield is recorded, so I'll not invent them; expect the short, stocky bush the lineage implies rather than anything reaching. Around 12% THC with 1% CBD, gentle by modern standards. A hardy, uncomplicated grow, true to its mountain ancestry.
