How to grow Pineapple Chunk
Taste
Seb's take
Pineapple, Skunk #1, and Cheese combine into one of Barney's Farm's harder-hitting entries, an Indica Cup winner from 2009 that has never needed to prove itself twice. Sweet pineapple sits over skunk on the nose; the high is relaxed, happy, and energetic. Not the easiest to grow, but she rewards those who stick with it.
Where it comes from
Barney's Farm bring three strong personalities together here, Pineapple, Skunk #1 and Cheese, and the result is one of the harder-hitting entries in their collection. The 2009 Indica Cup on its record was earned rather than bestowed, and at 80 percent indica the lineage explains the weight. Skunk #1 and Cheese supply the pungency and structure, Pineapple the fruit up top. A robust, decorated cross that has never needed to prove itself twice.
Nose & flavour
Sweet pineapple sits over a firm skunk base on the nose, with the Cheese lineage adding a savoury depth underneath the fruit. It is a loud, complicated aroma, tropical and funky at once, and emphatically not one that travels discreetly. A carbon filter would not go amiss. Distinctive from grinder to exhale, and unmistakably the product of those three parents.
The high
Despite the indica dominance the effect keeps a surprising spark, relaxed and happy, yes, but with an energetic edge that stops it collapsing straight into the sofa. At 25 percent THC it is a firm, hard-hitting experience, so the relaxation runs deep beneath the lift. A fuller high than the numbers alone suggest, and well-balanced with it.
Growing it
The record is candid: not the easiest variety to grow, but generous to those who master it. The plant stays a medium 90 to 100cm and flowers in 55 to 60 days for a heavy 600 g/m². The difficulty lies in the demands of dense, resin-heavy indica colas, watch the airflow and humidity late in bloom, and clean your scissors as you go. Reward the discipline and it repays handsomely; cut corners and it will notice.
