Seb Silverback

Jack Herer, Super Skunk and Big Skunk Korean behind the name, and the cerebral effect has earned a global reputation of its own. Sweet-smelling and compact, staying around sixty centimetres indoors with branches enough to need proper spacing. Nine weeks to harvest, half a kilo per square metre — a beautiful mind indeed.

Where it comes from

Vision Seeds built this one on three names that carry their own weight: Jack Herer, Super Skunk and Big Skunk Korean, folded into a plant that runs three-quarters indica. From Jack Herer comes the cerebral streak that has earned the cross a reputation well beyond the room it was bred in; the two Skunks supply the backbone and the sweetness. The mango sits in the name rather than the pedigree, which is the honest way round. A feminized strain with proper stock behind it, and none of the parents need an introduction.

Nose & flavour

Sweet is the word the record settles on, and it settles there fairly. This is a sweet-smelling plant, the kind that announces itself gently rather than filling a room, the Skunk lineage softened rather than sharpened. Do not expect the mango the name promises so boldly; expect instead a clean, sugared note that sits comfortably underneath. Pleasant company, not a statement.

The high

The effect is cerebral and it is what the cross is known for, the Jack Herer influence showing itself clearly. This is a head-forward experience despite the indica majority in the genetics, lifted rather than sunk, the sort that keeps the mind turning over. A beautiful mind, as the breeder puts it, and for once the marketing lands close to the mark. Bright company for the daytime hours.

Growing it

She stays compact indoors, reaching around 60cm, sturdy and well made, and she forms a great many branches. That branching is the catch: she wants attentive care and proper spacing to do herself justice, so give her room to breathe rather than crowding the tent. Nine weeks, or 63 days, takes her to harvest, at which point she returns roughly 500 g/m² of dense, resinous flower testing 18% THC. She suits indoors or out, though the outdoor route asks a little more experience of the grower. Reward the attention and she pays it back.
