How to grow Lemon Shining Silver Haze
Taste
Seb's take
One of the faster-finishing sativas around, this Lemon Skunk and Shining Silver Haze cross stays medium and manageable despite the vigour. Sweet, sour and citrus on the nose, with big, loose, lime-green buds thick with resin, and a high that runs relaxed, euphoric and — the record notes — aroused. Forgiving of training, suited to beginners and veterans alike.
Where it comes from
Royal Queen crossed Lemon Skunk with Shining Silver Haze, and the pairing keeps the Haze vigour while reining in the Haze height. It is, by the record's account, one of the faster-finishing sativas around — no small thing in a family better known for testing a grower's patience. The Lemon Skunk lends the citrus and the name; the Shining Silver Haze lends the speed and the sparkle.
Nose & flavour
Sweet and sour together, with citrus running through the middle — a brighter, more playful nose than a heavier Haze would give. The buds match it: big and long, loose and fluffy, lime green and thickly dressed in resinous trichomes. She dresses heavily for the occasion, in other words, and smells the part.
The high
Relaxed and euphoric, with the record adding aroused to the list for those keeping count. A sativa-leaning lift that stays pleasant and social rather than sedating, the citrus character carrying through into the feel of it. Bright company, and not the sort to send you to the armchair early.
Growing it
Flowering runs 63 to 70 days, the plant staying medium at 80 to 140cm despite fast, vigorous growth, with heavy yields of 600 to 650 g/m² and THC at 21%. It does best in warm, sunny climates outdoors or in a greenhouse, though it manages indoors well too, staying bushy but compact with a good bud-to-leaf ratio. It recovers quickly from training and takes to it well, which makes it forgiving of enthusiasm — suited to beginners and veterans alike.
