How to grow Critical Mass
Taste
Seb's take
Afghani crossed with Skunk #1 for the strain that gave the Critical family its name — big, densely packed buds and a sweet, earthy, woody character throughout. The high is relaxed, happy and euphoric, unhurried in the way old Skunk crosses tend to be. Staying under 100cm indoors, she suits growers short on space and patience alike.
Where it comes from
Advanced Seeds crossed an Afghani breed with Skunk #1 to make the strain that gave the whole Critical family its name — big, densely packed buds and a hybrid character drawn from two of cannabis's foundation stones. Indica-dominant, and staying under 100cm indoors, she suits growers short on space. Her natural adversity to more challenging climates makes her a hardy choice as well. The original of a large and storied line.
Nose & flavour
Sweet up front, with a woody note and a bed of earth beneath — the classic profile of a good Afghani-Skunk cross, rounded and grounded. Nothing sharp or exotic, just a full, honest nose with real weight to it. The sort of aroma that reads unmistakably old-school.
The high
Relaxed, happy and euphoric, unhurried in the way old Skunk crosses tend to be — a settled, cheerful weight that eases you down without rushing. She lifts the mood and softens the edges of the evening in equal measure. Steady, good-natured company, and no unpleasant surprises in the delivery.
Growing it
She flowers across 65 to 70 days, or nine to ten weeks — not the fastest, but worth the wait for the rock-hard, resin-packed buds she finishes with. Staying at 90 to 100cm indoors, she is terrific for growers with limited space, and her hardiness against tougher climates helps outdoors. The yield reaches a heavy 550 to 650 g/m² with the right care. A compact, resilient plant that returns a great deal for the modest footprint she takes.
