Blueberry Cheese Auto crosses the original Blue Cheese with Ruderalis for a stocky, 80-100cm plant that resists pests and disease better than most. Earthy cheese and blueberry carry the nose, and the high stays calm and relaxed with just enough uplift to keep the day moving. Low maintenance, low drama.

Where it comes from

Barney's Farm made Blueberry Cheese Auto, also sold as Blue Cheese Auto, by crossing their established Blue Cheese with Ruderalis. The Ruderalis does two jobs here: it hands the plant its autoflowering habit and, the breeders note, sharpens its resistance to pests and disease into the bargain. She holds at 80 percent Indica, stocky and short, a low-difficulty version of a well-liked name. A sensible, hard-wearing auto for the grower who wants the Blue Cheese character without the fuss.

Nose & flavour

Earthy and cheesy first, the savoury, funky note that gives the Cheese line its name, with blueberry lifting behind it. It is an unusual pairing on paper and a good one in practice: the fruit keeps the funk in check, the funk keeps the fruit from turning saccharine. Distinctive, and it does not travel discreetly.

The high

The effect stays calm and relaxed with just enough uplift to keep the day ticking over, a mild, even-tempered high rather than a heavy one. At 16 percent THC it settles you without pinning you, the sort of thing that suits an unhurried afternoon as readily as an evening. Low drama, throughout.

Growing it

Stocky and short at 80 to 100cm, she forms one big main cola but will take almost any training you care to give her, a rare virtue in an autoflower, where timing usually punishes interference. She starts flowering around week five and finishes nine to eleven weeks from sprouting, yielding up to 500 g/m² or 150g per plant. The added Ruderalis makes her resistant to pests and disease and comfortable in most any climate. Low maintenance, and forgiving of a heavy hand.
