Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Sour Diesel crossed with an SFV OG Kush IBL, named for the San Fernando Valley's own area code — home turf for one parent, at least. Sweet, sour and cheese on the nose; the high is relaxed, happy, calming, the sort that asks nothing further of you. Expect a hard stretch in pre-flower and dense, resin-heavy flowers within 65 days.

Where it comes from

Sour Diesel crossed with an SFV OG Kush IBL, from Cali Connection — a purebred out of the Chem family. The 818 is the San Fernando Valley's area code, home ground for the SFV OG side at least, so the name carries a genuine postcode rather than a marketing flourish. Sour Diesel brings the fuel and the structure; the OG lends the aroma it is renowned for. A 60 percent sativa lean, with Chem pedigree on both sides.

Nose & flavour

Sweet and sour lead, with a cheese note giving it a savoury, funky edge — the Sour Diesel and OG heritage plain in every part of it. It is a rich, slightly pungent nose rather than a clean or fruity one, and reads unmistakably of its Chem-family roots. Characterful, and not shy.

The high

Relaxed, happy and calming — an effect that asks nothing further of you once it settles. Despite the sativa lean on paper, the experience tends toward ease rather than urgency, a gentle downward drift into contentment. Sociable enough early, restful by the end.

Growing it

Expect a hard stretch through pre-flower, courtesy of the Diesel and OG background, so a fortnight of vegetation at most for the average space and a plan for the height to come. The reward is dense, resin-drenched flowers, and heavy ones — support is worth arranging before they need it. Flowering runs 65 to 75 days, with the first flowers forming as early as 65. Indoors she returns around 600 g/m². THC sits at 20.5 percent, CBD at 0.20. A vigorous plant that earns her keep for a grower ready to manage the stretch.
