Seb's take
Green House Seeds' Arjan traces his White Widow back to 1992, received directly from Ingemar De Sjamaan, the Dutch breeder credited with founding the strain in the late eighties — as with most legends, the full story depends who you ask. Incense, pine and earth on the nose; relaxed, euphoric, energetic in effect. 18.76% THC.
Where it comes from
Few strains carry as much folklore, and the record is careful about it. Arjan, of Green House Seeds, traces his White Widow to 1992, received directly from Ingemar De Sjamaan, the Dutch breeder credited with founding her in the late 1980s. She has been a fixture of the Dutch coffee shops since the nineties. As with most legends, the full story rather depends on who you ask — but the make-up is plain enough: Brazilian over South Indian, resin-heavy, and lasting.
Nose & flavour
Incense leads, which is a fitting note for a strain of her vintage — that resinous, almost ceremonial top over a base of pine and earth. It is a classic profile rather than a fashionable one, the kind that has been recognisable across three decades of coffee-shop menus. Rich, grounded and unmistakably of the old guard, with the incense the signature that gives her away.
The high
Relaxed at the base, euphoric through the middle, with an energetic thread keeping her from settling entirely — a well-balanced effect that has kept her in circulation this long for good reason. She eases and lifts in near-equal measure, agreeable company that neither flattens nor races. A dependable, even-handed high, exactly as her reputation would have it.
Growing it
A standard-paced grow with a generous return: she flowers in 56 days, stands 110 to 150cm, and yields a heavy 800 g/m² at 18.76% THC. The medium stature keeps her within reach while the yield rewards the space she takes. Three decades of growers have found her dependable, and the figures explain why — quick enough, tall but not unruly, and heavy at harvest. A classic that earns the title in the tent as much as in the jar.
