How to grow Warlock
Taste
Seb's take
The regular, non-feminised original, bred by Magus Genetics in the early 1990s as the house strain of Amsterdam's Bluebird coffeeshop before Serious Seeds stabilised her. Short in veg, she doubles or trebles in the stretch, finishing in 55 to 60 days with a good bud-to-leaf ratio. The high still leans focused and euphoric over heavy.
Where it comes from
Skunk #1 crossed with Afghani, first worked out in the early 1990s by Magus Genetics as the house strain of Amsterdam's famous Bluebird coffeeshop, and later stabilised and improved by Serious Seeds. This is the regular, non-feminised original, a piece of living history rather than a modern remake. At 85% indica with Afghani weight behind it, she carries genuine heritage, the sort of strain that helped define what a Dutch coffeeshop cut ought to taste like.
Nose & flavour
Earthy and pungent at the core, with a sweet, faintly berried brightness over the top and a woody depth beneath. It is a classic Skunk-and-Afghani nose, loud, resinous and unmistakably old-school. She does not travel discreetly, which in her coffeeshop heyday was rather the point. A characterful, full-bodied aroma with nothing modern or restrained about it.
The high
Potency is given only as high, so I will quote no figure. For an 85% indica the effect is unexpectedly bright, happy and euphoric, uplifted and even focused, the sativa characteristics the record credits to her Skunk side keeping her from sinking. A more sociable, functional high than the indica label would lead you to expect. Reason from that rather than from any number I might invent.
Growing it
Offered as regular seed, so the grower sorts males from females himself. She stays short through vegetation, then doubles or even trebles in size during the stretch, so leave room for that surge rather than judging her by her early stature. Flowering runs 55 to 60 days, with a good bud-to-leaf ratio that makes for easy trimming and a return of 400 to 500 g/m². Height as a finished figure goes unrecorded, so watch the stretch and give her the headroom it demands.
