Seb Silverback

Northern Light and pure Mazar, and the punk in the name refers to the smell, not the temperament - this one does not travel discreetly, so budget for a carbon filter. Sweet, spiced, and pungent, with a relaxed, happy, calming finish. Forgiving of enthusiasm, and done flowering inside sixty days.

Where it comes from

Northern Light crossed with pure Mazar by Samsara Seeds - a hundred-per-cent indica by the record's reckoning, two classic indica names with nothing sativa to dilute them. Northern Light lends the resinous calm; the pure Mazar, the depth and the heft. The punk in the name, as it turns out, refers to the smell rather than the temperament - the plant itself is about as well-behaved as a first-time grower could hope for. A gentle sort with a loud coat.

Nose & flavour

Sweet and spiced up front with a pungent, heavy base - and the record is emphatic that the smell is a strong one, stronger than much of the Samsara range, so a carbon filter and proper ventilation are not optional. A traditional indica nose with real volume behind it. She does not travel discreetly. Sweet on top, spicy through the middle, and unmistakable across a room.

The high

Eighteen per cent THC behind a relaxed, happy, calming finish - the settled, easy end of a pure indica, without any cerebral edge to complicate it. A gentle evening's ease. The effect matches the temperament: mild-mannered, undramatic, and forgiving of a heavier hand than a stronger plant would permit. Comfortable company rather than an event.

Growing it

Genuinely forgiving - the record recommends her to first-time growers without hesitation - and quick, finishing flower in under sixty days, or fifty to fifty-five. Compact at 0.8 metres, she suits an indoor tent neatly and yields up to 450 g/m² in good conditions. The dense buds are large and easy to trim, thanks to a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, which spares a beginner the fiddliest part of the job. Budget for the filter, and she asks little else.
