Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Blueberry crossed with Mazar in pursuit of one of the best indicas going, the fruit and aroma kept while the parent's slow start and curling leaves were bred out. Sweet berry and pine sit over an earthy pungency; the high runs relaxed, happy and properly sleepy by the end. Grown Sea of Green, about 400g/m2.

Where it comes from

Dutch Passion's Skywalker set out to breed one of the best indicas in the world, pairing a Mazar female with a Blueberry male to that end. The clever part is what they kept and what they discarded: Blueberry's prized taste and aroma stayed, while its awkward traits — the curling leaves, the slow start, the bluish tint — were bred out, and Mazar's vigour and yield came in to replace them. The result keeps the flavour and the quality of the high while shedding the parent's temperamental habits. A tidy piece of selective work, and an honest ambition met.

Nose & flavour

Sweet berry and pine over an earthy, pungent base — the Blueberry inheritance carried faithfully through, fruity and fresh without the parent's fussiness. A pleasant, rounded nose that leans sweet while keeping enough pungency for character. The fruit is the headline, exactly as the breeders intended when they held onto it.

The high

It begins uplifted and happy, euphoric with it, before the indica majority draws things down into a proper, settled sleepiness by the end. A full-arc effect, in other words: cheerful at the outset, decidedly the sitting-down sort by the finish. Company for an evening that has nowhere further to be.

Growing it

THC sits at a strong 20%, with 1% CBD. She flowers in around sixty days and, grown from clones in a Sea of Green under good conditions, returns about 400 g/m². Height is not recorded, so I will not invent it — but the bred-out Blueberry traits mean a steadier, quicker start than that parent ever managed, which is much of the point of the cross. A vigorous, fruity, dependable indica that rewards a Sea of Green setup and asks for little unusual in return.
