Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Northern Lights and Super Skunk provide the backbone, with CBD genetics keeping the THC to a modest 9 percent. Sweet, spiced and floral on the nose, from chunky, sticky, resinous flowers that will gum up your scissors come harvest. The high is relaxed, happy and medicinal, gentle enough for a proper afternoon rather than an evening write-off.

Where it comes from

Pyramid Seeds built Shark CBD on the same Northern Lights and Super Skunk backbone as its stablemate, then brought a CBD line into the cross to shift the balance — an 80 percent indica whose numbers tell a rather different story from the standard Shark. Like its ancestors it is a top-yielding variety with chunky, sticky, resinous flowers, but the cannabinoid ratio is where it parts company with the rest of the family. A deliberate rework of a proven frame.

Nose & flavour

Sweet up front, with a distinct spiced note and a floral lift that together give it a rather more refined character than the family's skunk roots might suggest. The record singles out that floral and spicy aroma for particular praise, and it is a fair description — the profile reads elegant rather than loud. A pleasant, well-mannered nose from chunky, resin-doused flowers, the sort you can enjoy without clearing the room first.

The high

Relaxed and happy, gentle enough for a proper afternoon rather than an evening write-off. With the CBD line keeping the THC to a modest level, the effect is a soft, settled calm rather than anything overwhelming — the sort of experience that eases you down without switching off the lights. A measured, agreeable high, the kind that suits a slower afternoon and asks very little of you in return for its company.

Growing it

A compact, robust plant of 60 to 130cm with sturdy branches and large leaves, versatile enough to thrive in almost any medium indoors or out. Flowering is a quick 55 days, returning 500 g/m² of trichome-coated buds with orange-brown pistils. THC sits at a gentle 9 percent against a full 10 percent of CBD — a genuinely balanced ratio. She produces so much resin that the branches can occasionally bend under it, so a little support does not go amiss. She will, in short, gum up your scissors.
