Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Serious Kush takes the OG Kush lineage and, crossed with White Russian, substantially improves the yield without losing any of the kush — earthy, pine, diesel, unmistakably itself. The effect is strongly sedating, the sitting-down sort valued by chronic pain patients and insomniacs alike. Also, reportedly, excellent for video games.

Where it comes from

Serious Seeds took the OG Kush line and crossed it with White Russian, chiefly to lift the yield — and by their account they managed it substantially, without surrendering any of the kush character in the trade. The result grows big, dense buds that fill out along every branch catching enough light. It is a project with a clear brief and a clear pedigree, and the improvement shows most plainly in the jar rather than the description.

Nose & flavour

Unmistakably kushy, the record insists, and it has the parentage to back the claim — earthy and piney with a diesel sharpness cutting through. That distinctive kush flavour is moreish to the point that the record admits it leaves you craving another pull straight after the last. A dense, savoury, fuel-tinged profile with little interest in sweetness, and all the better for its conviction.

The high

Strongly sedating — the sitting-down sort in its purest form, where you will not be needed elsewhere this evening. It settles the body thoroughly and eases toward euphoric calm, the kind of finish best reserved for a night with nothing on the schedule. Also, the record notes with a straight face, ideal for relaxing and playing video games, which is as fair a recommendation as any for a heavy indica evening.

Growing it

The whole point of the cross was the yield, and it delivers — big, trichome-covered buds filling out along well-lit branches for 400 to 500 g/m². Flowering runs 56 to 63 days. Height is not recorded, so judge her by temperament: a dense, resin-heavy Kush that fills space rather than climbing it. THC is listed only as very high, so take the strength as stated but unquantified. Give her light where she wants it and she packs the branches out accordingly — an improved yielder that lost none of its lineage in the bargain.
