Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Haze crossed with White Widow, and named — one presumes — for the whale of a yield she throws, up to 700g a plant outdoors. Sweet, spiced fruit on the nose; the high runs properly psychedelic and euphoric, with an aroused edge rarely mentioned so plainly. Vigorous and tall, so give her the headroom or a Screen of Green to match.

Where it comes from

Haze crossed with White Widow, a sativa-dominant marriage of two of the most decorated names of the nineties. Haze lends the soaring, cerebral length; White Widow the resin and the backbone. The name, one suspects, nods to the sheer size of the thing, the great white whale of the grow room, and the yields do little to argue otherwise. A properly old-school cross, built for scale in every sense.

Nose & flavour

Sweet and fruity with a spiced edge, the classic Haze register, bright and aromatic, carried across intact. There is a lift to it, the sort of nose that promises energy rather than sedation, with just enough spice to give it grip. Clean, sativa-forward and unmistakably of its lineage. It reads exactly as a Haze should.

The high

Not one to underestimate. Properly psychedelic and euphoric, with an aroused edge the record names plainly enough, a soaring, head-forward affair at 21% THC. This is the cerebral end of the spectrum, energising and a touch trippy, better suited to those who know their way around a Haze. A sipping strain, not a session one.

Growing it

Vigorous and tall, she holds between 80 and 140cm indoors but can run to two or even three metres outdoors, so the headroom is not optional. Sativa-dominant though she is, she finishes in a reasonable nine to ten weeks indoors, or by late October outside, where she prefers a cooler climate. Yields are considerable: 550 to 600 g/m² under glass, and 650 to 700g from a single outdoor plant. She throws plenty of tops, which makes her a natural for a Screen of Green. At 21% THC, a big, generous grow for those with the room.
