How to grow Puna Budder
Taste
Seb's take
Hawaii meets Afghanistan, and the Afghan side brings the discipline - a stable 55-60 day flower on what could otherwise be an unruly tropical Sativa. Pine, skunk and sweet butter on the nose, with a giggly, energetic, uplifted high to match. A tidy result from two very different hemispheres.
Where it comes from
Two hemispheres rarely sit this comfortably together. Hawaii lends the tropical half, Puna being a district on the Big Island, so the name carries its own geography, while Afghanistan supplies the other. T.H. Seeds are behind the cross, and the Afghan contribution is not flavour but temperament: stable lines that smooth an otherwise unruly island Sativa into something a grower can set a calendar by. The result reads Pacific on the nose and Central Asian in the diary.
Nose & flavour
The nose opens on pine and skunk, sharp enough to place her, before the tropical side declares itself, sweet and faintly buttery, the sort of richness the island half tends to carry. A layered profile rather than a loud one, though skunk is skunk, and this one does not travel entirely discreetly.
The high
The effect keeps to the daytime end of things: giggly and uplifted, with an energetic, euphoric lift that never quite settles into the armchair. Good company rather than quiet contemplation, a sociable high that leaves you inclined to talk. Bright, forward and easily enjoyed, in keeping with its Pacific parentage.
Growing it
Fifty-five to sixty days in flower, which for anything with island Sativa in it counts as remarkably obliging; thank the Afghan side for that. She reaches a medium height of 120 to 150cm, returns 300 to 350 g/m², and tests around 20% THC. A regular-seed line, so expect males in the mix and sex accordingly. Otherwise a forgiving grow, disciplined where her Hawaiian parent alone would run wild.
