Named for Dutch breeder Neville Schoenmakers, and bred at a time when sativa lovers had precious little choice on the market. Northern Lights #5 gives structure to the Haze; diesel, flowery sweetness and lemon show on the nose. The high stays energetic, focused, happy and uplifted — a 1998 Cannabis Cup win, and no surprise there.
Where it comes from
Named for Dutch breeder Neville Schoenmakers, and built at a moment when the market had drowned sativa lovers in indicas and left them little to choose from. Northern Lights #5 lends the structure and resin; Haze supplies the soaring half. The record dates the history to the late 1990s and credits the boldness with a 1998 Cannabis Cup win — a rebuttal, in plant form, to the idea that everything worth growing had to finish fast and sit you down.
Nose & flavour
Diesel opens the nose, sharp and unmistakable, with a flowery sweetness behind it and lemon brightening the top. An earthy base holds the whole thing together. It is a loud, layered aroma — one that does not travel discreetly, and was never meant to. The Haze heritage announces itself well before the jar is fully open.
The high
Energetic and focused, happy and uplifted, with just enough relaxation underneath to keep it civilised.
