How to grow Lemon Diesel
Taste
Seb's take
A mostly-sativa cross of two California-born legends, California Sour and Lost Coast OG, carrying lemon, diesel and pepper on the nose. The high opens with a sativa lift before easing into a pleasant indica-style body feel — a journey rather than a single note, and popular with medical users for good reason.
Where it comes from
Herbies carry Lemon Diesel, a mostly-sativa hybrid made by combining two legendary California-born strains, California Sour and Lost Coast OG. The pairing is a West Coast one through and through, the Sour lending the citrus and the OG the fuel and the backbone. It is a high-potency cross with a following on both the recreational and the wider scene, and the parentage reads exactly as the name suggests: lemon over diesel, born of the California coast.
Nose & flavour
Lemon and diesel share the billing, as the name insists, with a broader citrus around them, a sweetness underneath and a peppery edge finishing it off. It is a layered, sharp profile, the fuel and the citrus playing against one another and the sweetness rounding the corners. A vivid, forward nose with plenty going on, and one that lives up to both halves of its name without favouring either.
The high
A journey rather than a single note. The effect opens with a sativa-style lift, happy, uplifted, euphoric and energetic, before easing gradually into a pleasant indica-style body high. It is a two-part arc, the head engaged first and the body settling after, which gives it a range few strains manage. Bright at the top, comfortable at the close, and popular for exactly that spread.
Growing it
A medium plant, standing 140 to 160cm, so allow her a little room. Flowering spans a wide 49 to 65 days, so keep an eye on the trichomes rather than the calendar, and she returns 397 to 488 g/m². THC is quoted at 19 to 23 percent. The record keeps the agronomic detail brief, so I will not embroider it; what stands is a well-proportioned, high-potency plant on a flexible flowering window. Watch her closely toward the end and harvest to your own preference for head or body.
