An Afghan, Thai and AK-47 cross that ripens faster than her heritage suggests, and the reddish, resin-laden buds live up to the name's promise of a bang. Earthy, skunky pine on the nose with a lemon edge, sharpened by a tropical fruit flavour with a hot aftertaste. Outdoors, she can clear two metres without warning.
Where it comes from
Kannabia build Kaboom from Afghan, Thai and AK-47, a broad cross that reaches across continents for its character. The Afghan brings the quick ripening and the resin; the Thai the reach and the fruit; AK-47 the backbone. Eighteen per cent THC, and a plant that ripens sooner than her heritage might lead you to expect. A cosmopolitan pedigree, and a productive one.
Nose & flavour
Earthy and skunky, with pine and a lemon edge over a pungent base, then a sharp, acidic tropical-fruit note and a faintly hot aftertaste on the palate. A lively, sour profile that does not travel discreetly. The heat on the finish is an unusual touch, and a welcome one.
The high
Uplifted, happy and energetic, with a creative edge and a relaxed undertone keeping it grounded, a broadly cheerful high suited to the daytime. At eighteen per cent THC she is honest about what she is: pleasant and lively rather than overwhelming. Good company that lets you keep your feet.
Growing it
She flowers in around eight weeks and shows her full potential outdoors, where, planted in April, she can clear two metres and spread across a good deal of ground. Indoors she returns 500 g/m² of heavy, compact, reddish buds laden with resin, which press into a fine hash. Give her the headroom the height demands, and harvest outdoors by the end of September. A vigorous plant that earns her explosive name.
