How to grow Grapefruit
Taste
Seb's take
Selected from a Grapefruit phenotype of C99, this original is now scarcer than its many descendants, most breeders having moved on to crosses of their own. Grapefruit, citrus and tropical sweetness on the nose; the high is energetic, talkative and creative at 16-19% THC — deep thinking, by all accounts, comes with the territory.
Where it comes from
Female Seeds selected Grapefruit from a phenotype of Cinderella 99 — the Grapefruit pheno of C99, chosen and stabilised for its citrus character. The record notes the original has grown scarce, most breeders having moved on to crosses and backcrosses of their own rather than keeping the source line going. What remains is a straightforward selection rather than a complex hybrid: one plant, one trait, carefully held.
Nose & flavour
The name is no accident — grapefruit leads, tangy and bright, over a broader citrus sweetness with a tropical, flowery lift behind it. A clean, zesty nose that smells much as it tastes. Among the more literal strains in the catalogue, and none the worse for the honesty.
The high
Energetic and uplifted, with focus, talkativeness and a creative streak — a bright, daytime high with no sedation in it. At 16 to 19% THC it is moderate and manageable, the sort that keeps you sharp and sociable. The record adds that it tends to provoke deep thinking, which suits the clear-headed character well.
Growing it
Feminised, medium at 80 to 100cm, flowering in around 60 days and quick to mature. Yields run about 500 g/m². The record rates difficulty as medium and warns that overfeeding can cause nutrient lockout — so a lighter hand on the feed serves it best, at roughly 4ml per litre. A 12/12 schedule is recommended. CBD sits low, between 0.06 and 0.3%.
