Seb's take

Seb Silverback

The same F2/F3 chocolate Thai lineage, this time taking 3rd place in the Sativa category at Spannabis 2022 — solid proof of a well-kept classic. Sweet and fruity on the nose; the high runs energetic and giggly before a relaxed finish. Compact for a sativa at around 120cm, and easier to house because of it.

Where it comes from

Three generations of the same chocolate line stand behind this one: OG Chocolate Thai in its F2 and F3 forms, with a Big Sur Holy Weed male brought in to hold the cross together. World Wide Cultivars are the hands responsible. It is not a name conjured from nothing, the Thai side traces to genuine South-East Asian stock, and the plant carried that pedigree to a third-place finish in the Sativa category at Spannabis 2022. A classic, in other words, kept rather than reinvented, and awarded for the keeping.

Nose & flavour

The nose leans sweet and fruity, without much complication about it, the sort of profile that made the original Thai lines worth preserving in the first place. Nothing sharp, nothing industrial; a straightforward sweetness that carries through to the smoke and does not overstay its welcome. Honest about what it is, and rather good at it.

The high

Sativa-leaning, and it behaves accordingly. The lift arrives first, energetic, bright, faintly giggly, before easing back into something relaxed as the evening settles. A sociable arc rather than a sedating one, though the tail end will happily see you into an armchair. Approach the front half expecting movement, the back half expecting rather less of it.

Growing it

A feminized plant, 80% sativa and 20% indica, running 18 to 22% THC. Flowering takes 70 to 84 days, call it eleven weeks, which is patient work and honest about being slow. Height settles at roughly 120cm, compact for anything this sativa-leaning, which makes housing her indoors a good deal less of a negotiation. Yields land between 549 and 610 g/m². Give her the time she asks for and she repays the discipline; rush her and you will simply have rushed a classic.
