Tropical fruit, blueberry and berry on the nose, from an Oregon Blueberry and Northern Light cross that leans 80% Indica. The high is relaxed, happy and calming, delivered by a fast, bushy plant whose branches may need a hand once the dense, resin-heavy buds start pulling toward the ground.
Where it comes from
Royal Queen Seeds' Blue Mystic descends from Oregon Blueberry and Northern Light, an 80 percent Indica cross that wears its parentage on the leaf. The Blueberry side supplies the fruit and, in cooler rooms, the blue and purple shades the name trades on; Northern Light lends the density and the settled temperament. The result is a vigorous, bushy plant with dense, medium-sized buds ranged top to bottom along the branches, handsome, and inclined to colour up beautifully if the nights are allowed to run cold.
Nose & flavour
Tropical fruit leads, with blueberry and a broader berry sweetness filling in behind, a bright, fruit-forward nose that leaves little doubt about which half of the family is doing the talking. Nothing sharp or fuel-driven here; it is ripe and rounded throughout, the sort of aroma that suits the plant's easy disposition.
The high
The effect is relaxed, happy and calming in equal measure, a gentle, even-tempered high with no rough edges and no demands. It settles rather than surges, keeping good company without insisting on your full attention, which at 18 percent THC is a comfortable place for it to sit. An evening strain that knows how to behave.
Growing it
Indoors she stays under 100cm and finishes in eight to nine weeks; outdoors she runs nearer 150cm, and given enough vegetative time and root room can reach 200cm, so plan accordingly. She grows fast and bushy, and the branches will want support in the final weeks, the dense buds pull hard as they fill, and she is not shy about loading them. Indoor yields land at 375 to 425 g/m². Outdoors, expect her ready by the middle of October. Keep the nights cool at the end for the colour.
