Seb's take

Seb Silverback

A three-way cross of Original OG, Urkel, and Afghan Kush, each contributing its share to a strain with rather more manners than its name suggests. Sweet, spiced, and berry-edged on the nose, the high runs sleepy, relaxed, and calming — an evening strain, not a boast.

Where it comes from

A three-way cross from Barney's Farm, Original OG, Urkel and Afghan Kush, each parent lending its share to an award-winning whole. Original OG brings the backbone, Urkel the colour and berry character, Afghan Kush the deep indica weight. The name postures rather more than the plant, which for all its swagger keeps better manners than one might fear. A serious pedigree behind a cheeky label.

Nose & flavour

Sweet at the front, with spice and a berry note beneath, the Urkel side showing plainly in the fruit. A rounded, indica-typical bouquet, warm and a little sweet rather than sharp. Pleasant and full, with none of the menace the name implies. An agreeable nose from a plant that talks tougher than it smells.

The high

Sleepy, relaxed and calming, a settling, downward-tending experience that belongs firmly to the evening. At 24% THC with 1.1% CBD it carries real weight, so approach as you would a staircase in the dark whatever the playful name suggests. A comfortable slide into the armchair rather than a jolt. Best kept for a night with nothing further asked of you.

Growing it

A medium plant of 100 to 110cm, flowering in a brisk 55 to 60 days for a heavy 700 g/m² and 1.1% CBD. The deep indica lineage keeps her compact and sturdy, with the yields to justify the pedigree. At 24% THC she runs potent, and the resin that comes with it means clean scissors are a kindness to yourself. A generous, well-mannered plant that returns far more than her name's bluster would lead you to expect.
