Seb's take

Seb Silverback

The photoperiod Frisian Dew's purple hues and mould resistance carried faithfully into this quicker, compact autoflower. Woody, sweet notes with pepper and sage on the nose; the high is euphoric and tingly, relaxed and focused enough to make the hunger that follows feel entirely earned.

Where it comes from

An upgraded take on the photoperiod Frisian Dew, and a faithful one — Dutch Passion preserved the parent's magnificent purple hues, compact size and high resistance to mould, then quickened the calendar. The result keeps everything worth keeping while gaining a little pace. The mould resistance is no small inheritance for a plant of these colours; the purple is the reward, the resilience the reason it survives to show it.

Nose & flavour

An unusual, characterful nose — woody and sweet at the base, with pepper, sage and a curious note of tea layered over it. More herbal and savoury than most, and the better for it; the pepper and sage lend a culinary edge, the tea a dry sophistication, the sweetness a little ballast. A distinctive profile that stands apart from the usual fruit and fuel.

The high

Euphoric and tingly, relaxed and quietly focused — a well-rounded arc that keeps the mind clear even as the body eases. A pleasant hunger tends to follow, and after an experience this composed it feels entirely earned. Balanced and undemanding; the sort of effect that settles you without dimming you, and sends you contentedly toward the kitchen.

Growing it

Compact and obliging — she holds to a tidy sixty to eighty centimetres, ideal for tight quarters. Flowering runs seventy to seventy-seven days, a touch quicker than the photoperiod parent, with yields of 400 to 500g per square metre. The high resistance to mould is the standout virtue, making her forgiving in less-than-ideal conditions, and the rich purple colouring is a fine reward for the modest effort. A resilient, good-looking grow that behaves itself from start to finish.
