How to grow Arjan's Haze #3
Taste
Seb's take
Haze crossed with a Laotian line, sweet and fruity with a spiced note that is unusual for a Sativa of this type. The high stays classically bright — euphoric, creative and sociable rather than heavy — from a plant that begins flowering at just 18cm before shooting up past a metre.
Where it comes from
Green House Seeds drew this one from Haze crossed with a Laotian line, a seventy percent Sativa hybrid with a Southeast Asian landrace in its base. It is the simpler of Arjan's Hazes on paper, two lines rather than three, and the Laotian heritage shows in a warmth of flavour that is not typical of the family. A well-bred Haze with an unexpected softness to it.
Nose & flavour
Sweet and fruity, with hints of spice, a profile the record itself calls completely uncharacteristic for a Sativa, and I would not argue. Where most Hazes lean sharp and incense-like, this one turns warm and sweet, the fruit forward and the spice giving it depth. A genuinely distinctive nose, and the more welcome for its surprise.
The high
A classic Sativa buzz, bright and colourful, euphoric and creative and well suited to friendly conversation. This is sociable company rather than solitary, a lift that keeps you engaged and good-humoured. At a modest 13.29% THC it is a gentle, agreeable effect rather than an overwhelming one, the sort that lightens an afternoon without commandeering it.
Growing it
Seventy days in flower, a standard Haze turn, and a heavy yielder at seven hundred grams the square metre. The record gives a charming detail of her growth: she begins to bloom at just eighteen centimetres before shooting quickly up to a metre or a little beyond, so plan for that stretch. She favours equatorial, tropical, subtropical and temperate climates, the strong, dense plants feeling best in warmth. At 13.29% THC, a gentle giant of a grow.
