How to grow American Beauty
Taste
Seb's take
Berry, mango and tropical fruit on the nose, with a lineage that name-drops Cinderella 99 and Black Cherry Soda along the way — American Beauty keeps some things to itself, but not the flavour. The high is a cheerful, giggly, hungry sort of business, uplifted and euphoric rather than sedate. Resin-heavy buds that will gum up your scissors come harvest.
Where it comes from
Built on Plushberry, the record lists both parents under that name, and the deeper lineage surfaces in the description: Black Cherry Soda on one side, the famous Cinderella 99 threading pineapple through the other. That ancestry explains the fruit salad she turns out. Dr Underground note two distinct phenotypes in the pack: one that colours up readily, taking its shades from the Black Cherry Soda genes, and a second that stays greener but builds larger, denser structure. A fifty-fifty hybrid, and a vigorous one from either phenotype.
Nose & flavour
A proper fruit basket: berry and mango leading, sweet and tropical filling in behind, with a hint of pineapple carried down from the Cinderella 99 side. It is an unashamedly dessert-leaning nose, bright and juicy, with none of the funk some fruit strains hide underneath. Whichever phenotype you draw, the record credits each with its own aromatic nuance, so no two packs smell quite identical.
The high
Cheerful company throughout: creative and uplifted at the head, giggly and euphoric through the middle, and hungry by the end, so keep something to hand. At 17% THC it is moderate rather than overwhelming, which suits its sunny temperament, a bright, sociable lift rather than a heavy one. More likely to get you talking and grazing than to sit you down.
Growing it
Vigorous, and inclined to branch: the record notes foxtailing turrets at the tips of the colas, and buds resinous enough to cling and clog. No height is recorded, so I will not invent one, though the vigour suggests she will use whatever room she is given. Flowering runs 56 to 63 days, and the harvest is wide, 500 to 900g/m², depending heavily on which phenotype you draw and how you steer it. Feminized seed, resin-heavy flower: she will gum up your scissors come harvest, so clean them as you were taught.
