Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Pure Kush spent years as a clone-only strain before condescending to seeds - a fair indication of how highly it is regarded. Skunk and pungent earth on the nose, with a sleepy, relaxed, medicinal high that does the sitting-down sort well. Short and stocky in growth, she suits Sea of Green as naturally as a landrace Indica should.

Where it comes from

Pure Kush arrives with a guarded pedigree; 'Kush genetics' is as much as the record will name, the sort of lineage that keeps its cards close. What is documented is its history: for years a clone-only variety, passed hand to hand rather than sold as seed, before Green House Seeds coaxed it into this feminized form. A strain does not stay clone-only that long without being worth the trouble.

Nose & flavour

Skunk and pungent earth, an unrepentantly old-school nose, heavy and low, with none of the fruit or sweetness of the modern hybrids. It does not travel discreetly. This is Kush as it was, and as many still prefer it, unpolished and unashamed.

The high

The high is the sitting-down sort through and through: relaxed sliding toward sleepy, a proper full-body settle. You won't be needed elsewhere this evening. Approach as you would a staircase in the dark, and clear your plans before rather than after.

Growing it

Nine weeks in flower, around 63 days, and a heavy producer, up to 900 g/m² from a plant that stays short and stocky. She throws a dominant central flower over a mass of lateral branches, which makes her a natural fit for Sea of Green after a short veg, or Screen of Green if you trim the apical bud and let the sides bush out. She grows like a landrace Indica because, in temperament, she is one. Around 19.35% THC, with 0.3% CBD.
