Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Big Bud and Skunk combine into a bushy, compact plant that nonetheless reaches for the sky outdoors, given the chance. Pineapple and citrus sit over a properly pungent skunk base — a carbon filter is not optional. The high runs relaxed, uplifted, and creative, with buds stacked tight along short internodes.

Where it comes from

Humboldt Seeds Organization cross Big Bud with Skunk here, and the pairing shows in both bulk and bouquet, Big Bud lending the heavy, closely stacked colas, Skunk the pungency that follows the plant everywhere. It leans 70 percent indica, growing bushy and compact indoors yet capable of reaching for the sky outdoors. A straightforward, old-school cross with no pretension about it, chosen for yield and aroma rather than fashion.

Nose & flavour

Pineapple and citrus sit brightly over a properly pungent skunk base, the two halves of the lineage arguing pleasantly on the nose. It is tropical and sweet up top, funky and sharp beneath, and the record is blunt that a carbon filter is needed rather than advisable. This one makes its presence known well before it is lit. Loud, layered, and unmistakable from grinder to exhale.

The high

The effect is broad and good-natured, relaxed and uplifted, happy and euphoric, with a creative streak running through it. At a gentle 15 percent THC it is among the more approachable in this company, an easygoing high that lifts without overwhelming. Sociable daytime-into-evening company, forgiving of enthusiasm and slow to outstay its welcome.

Growing it

Quick to flower at 53 to 58 days, and wildly variable in height, a compact bush indoors, but capable of reaching up to 300cm outdoors where it is given the room. Yields run 400 to 600 g/m². Expect smaller-to-medium buds stacked tightly into big, grape-shaped colas on short internodes, the whole plant glossed in sticky resin that will gum up your scissors in short order. Manage the height, mind the smell, and it asks little else.
