Seb's take

Seb Silverback

Mataro Blue crossed with Ruderalis for hardiness, though the parent's short stature won out over the Ruderalis height the breeders were hoping for. Lime-green leaves turn bluish to purple in the cold, a plant that seems to enjoy weather that would trouble most others. The high is described as brainy — cerebral, and noticeably more psychoactive than the THC figure alone suggests.

Where it comes from

Mataro Blue crossed with Ruderalis for hardiness, though the plan did not entirely go as drawn — Kannabia Seeds prized the Ruderalis for height, and instead the parent's famously short stature won out, which is why some plants come short and others bushy. The blue-to-purple colouring is Mataro Blue's contribution, brought out by the cold. A cross with a mind of its own about how tall it intends to be.

Nose & flavour

The record leaves the nose unstated, so I will not gild it. What it does describe is the look: large, broad, lime-green leaves and a very stable calyx-to-leaf ratio, the whole plant shifting from bluish to purple when the temperature drops. A handsome grower, whatever it keeps quiet about its aroma.

The high

Described as brainy — cerebral and noticeably psychoactive, more so than the modest THC figure alone might lead you to expect. It stays in the head rather than the body, an up sort of effect for a plant that seems to relish weather that would trouble most others. Sharper than the numbers suggest.

Growing it

A tough customer. She stands 150 to 160cm and yields around 500g per plant, with THC recorded at 13 percent. Flowering time is not given, so I will not invent one. She withstands excess fertiliser well and is highly resistant to pests of every kind, though she develops more slowly through the growth stage before ripening correctly. Drop the temperature late and she rewards you in purple. A resilient, forgiving plant for cooler spots.
