Seb's take

Seb Silverback

A stabilised cross of Purple Master Kush and the award-winning LA Confidential, originally out of California. She starts small and skinny before blossoming into surprisingly massive flowers, floral and peppermint on the nose with a hint of grape, and a genuinely indica-dominant, high-potency effect throughout.

Where it comes from

Sumo Seeds crossed Purple Master Kush with LA Confidential, the latter an award-winning indica of real standing, and then did the patient work of stabilising the result. The line traces back to California, and it is indica-dominant to the tune of three-quarters. There is little variation between phenotypes, the breeder notes, though one leans a touch more to the sativa side than its siblings. A tidy, deliberate piece of breeding rather than a happy accident.

Nose & flavour

A floral, peppermint aroma with a hint of grape running underneath, cooler and more perfumed than the average Kush, which tends toward the heavy and the earthy. An agreeable surprise of a nose, and a good deal more elegant than the name might lead you to brace for.

The high

Firmly indica-dominant and, by the breeder's account, potent with it, the sort that settles the body and asks little of the evening ahead. Three parts indica to one of sativa tells you most of what you need to know: expect weight rather than lift, and keep the hours after it clear.

Growing it

Quick in flower at 49 to 56 days, reaching 60 to 100cm and returning 300 to 450 g/m². The THC is described only as high, so I shall leave the figure where the breeder left it, unstated. Her habit is worth knowing: she begins small and skinny enough to worry a nervous grower, then blossoms into surprisingly massive flowers, with short internodes and a fine flower-to-leaf ratio that makes for easy trimming. Patience early on is rewarded late.
