Black Widow descends from a Brazilian Sativa and a South Indian Indica, the same lineage behind the whole legendary Widow family. Skunky, piney, and fruity on the nose, she yields well even in poor conditions and delivers a cheerful, calming relaxation at genuinely serious potency. A classic that has earned the name, several times over.
Where it comes from
Black Widow descends from a Brazilian sativa crossed with a South Indian indica, the same foundation, the record notes, behind the whole legendary Widow family. Herbies' version leans 75 per cent to the indica side, and it carries the decades of standing that name has accrued. A geography lesson in a seed: South America met South India, and the result has outlasted most of its contemporaries.
Nose & flavour
Skunk leads, piney and fruity behind it, with the immediately recognisable dank of a true classic. It does not travel discreetly, and it was never meant to. The sort of aroma that identifies itself the moment the jar is cracked.
The high
The effect is cheerful and relaxed in equal measure, at a potency the record cheerfully calls over the top. Approach as you would a staircase in the dark, 25 to 28 per cent being no figure to be casual about, and it makes for genial company all the same.
Growing it
One of her chief virtues is forgiveness: she yields well even under substandard conditions, which is a rarer trait than it sounds. Flowering runs 56 to 67 days, standing 80 to 120cm, for 400–500 g/m² at 25 to 28 per cent THC. A classic that has earned the name several times over, and asks little to prove it again.
