Black Diesel is a selection from the multi-award-winning New York City Diesel, and shows it – grapefruit and citrus on the nose, thick resinous buds, and a happy, energetic sativa lift. She stretches modestly indoors but towers outdoors given the room, though damp climates will not be repaid kindly. Give her the headroom, and keep her dry.
Where it comes from
A selection from New York City Diesel — one of the most decorated plants ever to grace a Cannabis Cup — which Advanced Seeds refined into this seventy per cent sativa line. The heritage shows in everything from the citrus nose to the resin content, both hallmarks of that award-winning stock. A single, well-chosen parent, carefully selected rather than crossed about; the pedigree is the pitch, and a strong one.
Nose & flavour
Citrus throughout — lemon up front, ripe grapefruit through the middle, the whole nose bright and zesty and clean. It is the New York City Diesel signature carried faithfully forward, sharp and mouthwatering, with none of the heaviness the Diesel name might lead you to expect. A summer profile, jar to exhale.
The high
The seventy per cent sativa does exactly what it ought — happy, euphoric, and energetic, a bright cerebral lift that keeps you upright and moving. At nineteen per cent it is capable without flattening, ideal daytime company for work or conversation alike. Lively without being frantic, and disinclined to see you anywhere near the sofa. Honest daylight fare.
Growing it
Two very different plants depending on where she grows. Indoors she stays a modest eighty to a hundred centimetres; outdoors, given the room, she towers to three or four metres. Flowering runs sixty-three to seventy days for 450 to 550 g/m². The one caution is damp: her resistance to mould is low, so keep her dry and well-aired, especially outdoors. Give her the headroom, and keep the humidity off her.
