Seb's take

Seb Silverback

East Coast Sour Diesel and Tangie combine two decorated parents into a citrus-and-diesel nose backed by sweet, earthy depth. The high is uplifted, happy, and energetic before easing into something more relaxed. Sativa-leaning and finished in lime-green buds shot through with orange calyx.

Where it comes from

East Coast Sour Diesel crossed with Tangie by Reserva Privada - two decorated, well-known parents, the record notes, brought together with a little extra of the breeder's own on top. Eighty per cent sativa, and the pairing is a natural one: the diesel fuel of the one, the tangerine brightness of the other. Citrus and diesel is a combination that recurs for a reason, and this is one of its more celebrated expressions.

Nose & flavour

Citrus and orange lead, bright and juicy, over a diesel edge with sweet, earthy depth beneath - the Tangie tangerine and the Sour Diesel fuel in conversation. A lively, layered nose that swings between sweet and sharp. One of the more genuinely orange-scented plants in the cabinet, and the diesel keeps it from turning merely fruity. Bright on top, grounded underneath.

The high

Uplifted, happy and energetic to begin - the sativa dominance in full voice - before it eases into something more euphoric and relaxed as it settles. A high with a bright opening and a softer landing. The record does not pin a strength I would repeat, so I will leave the number aside and let the effect speak: lively first, mellow later. Sociable throughout.

Growing it

Medium to tall - around 100 to 130cm indoors, more given her head outside - and finished in nine to ten weeks, or the middle-to-end of October under the sky. Yields run 500 to 600 g/m², or up to 600 grams per plant. The buds come lime-green and shot through with red and orange calyx by harvest, under a full coat of resin. A handsome, generous plant that wants a full window and a little room.
